5426 Multicell Horn 3x4
3d files for 3x4 multicellular horn, designed to bridge traditional acoustic geometry with additive manufacturing.
This model is engineered to offer optimal acoustic dispersion and smooth expansion profile control, bridging traditional multicell horn geometry with additive manufacturing techniques. Perfect for DIY audio enthusiasts, custom PA systems, or vintage-style acoustic projects.
This 3x4 multicellular horn (12 cells) is engineered to provide constant directivity and smooth, homogeneous sound dispersion. Its modular 2-piece design enables easy printing on standard build volumes while maintaining structural rigidity and acoustic decoupling.
GEOMETRY & ACOUSTIC EXPANSION
-
Multicell Matrix: 12 independent cells (3 rows x 4 columns). This partitioning maintains controlled coverage across both horizontal and vertical axes, preventing high-frequency beaming.
-
Expansion Profile: Calculated using exponential / Tractrix acoustic expansion formulas to optimize acoustic loading, extend low-end response, and minimize internal diffraction.
-
Throat Adapter Transition: Smooth interior transition geometry bridging the circular driver exit to the 12-channel 3x4 cell matrix.
-
Modular Assembly: Separated into two main components joined by bolted flange mounts:
-
Throat entry adapter with threaded driver mount and rear support foot.
-
Main 3x4 multicellular horn body with integrated mounting tabs at the mouth base.
-

3D PRINTING RECOMMENDATIONS
-
Material: PETG recommended for mechanical toughness, temperature resistance, and acoustic damping properties (PLA is also suitable).
-
Layer Height: 0.16 mm to 0.20 mm (crucial for clean, precise 1-3/8"-18 TPI threads on the throat adapter).
-
Perimeters / Wall Count: 4 to 6 walls minimum (ensures acoustic air-tightness and strengthens thread engagement).
-
Infill Density: 25% to 40% (Gyroid or Cubic pattern) to add structural mass and damp resonant frequencies.
-
Print Orientation: Print the throat adapter vertically (flange down) for optimal thread reproduction without support artifacts.
