Elliptical Horn 5426 studio
An acoustically optimized, smooth-transition elliptical horn/diffuser designed for 1-inch to 1.75 throat compression drivers. Engineered specifically to fit comfortably within standard 256 x 256 x 256 mm build volumes (such as Bambu Lab A1, P1S, X1C, and similar 3D printers).
Acoustic Profile & Technical Specifications
This horn provides a smooth geometric expansion from a circular 1-inch to 1.75 throat (25.4 mm) to a wide elliptical mouth (253 mm x 160 mm) across a length of 215 mm.
• Throat Entrance Diameter: 1 to 1.75 standard compression throat. • Mouth Dimensions: 253 mm x 160 mm (Horizontal x Vertical). • Total Length / Depth: 215 mm. • Acoustic Cutoff Frequency (fc): ~800 Hz - 1 kHz. Recommended crossover point at 1.5 kHz - 2 kHz (12 dB/oct or 24 dB/oct). • Directivity & Response: Provides wide, uniform horizontal dispersion while controlling vertical directivity to avoid floor/ceiling reflections and keeping high-frequency response smooth up to 18 kHz+.
Thread Compatibility & STEP Customization
• Default Thread Standard: Includes a 1" 3/8 - 18 TPI female thread designed directly for drivers like the Devine HDA04 and other standard 1" threaded compression drivers. • Modifiable / Parametric CAD File: The download includes the full .STEP file. If your driver uses a different thread pitch, a bolt-on flange, or a custom adapter, you can easily open the .STEP model in Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or FreeCAD to modify or swap the throat mounting interface.
Recommended 3D Printing Settings
Designed specifically to be printed on 256 x 256 x 256 mm beds (Bambu Lab A1, X1, P1 series, etc.).
• Recommended Filament: PETG (Highly recommended over PLA for superior structural resonance dampening, impact resistance, and long-term mechanical stability under driver weight). • Wall Loops / Perimeters: 4 to 5 walls (Crucial to ensure acoustic isolation and eliminate enclosure shell resonance). • Infill Density: 20% to 25%. • Infill Pattern: Gyroid (Provides uniform 3D structural rigidity and dampens internal acoustic pressure). • Layer Height: 0.16 mm - 0.20 mm for smooth internal expansion walls. • Supports: Needed only for the rear mounting flange/ribs depending on print orientation.
